Spyker not putting pressure on Winkelhock

Spyker team principal Colin Kolles has said that the team are keeping the pressure off debutant Markus Winkelhock at the Nurburgring this weekend

Winkelhock was widely expected to qualify last, however the German was disappointed to find himself 1.4 seconds behind teammate Adrian Sutil.

But Kolles said that Winkelhock's minimal test miles prior to the weekend meant that he was always facing a tough job.

"It is difficult for him, you know?" Kolles told autosport.com. "We did not expect that he would be up front, when you look at the mileage that he has done this year.

"He didn't crash the car, he stayed on the track, so we will see tomorrow. He has to finish the race, and that's all we want."

Kolles would not be drawn on when a decision would be made regarding who might be in the car for the remainder of the season, saying that the team had put all of their effort into making sure that the seat was filled for this weekend.

Winkelhock was only confirmed for his home Grand Prix on Wednesday.

"It was late, but that was because the decision regarding Christijan Albers was a bit of a surprise," Kolles said.

"Maybe a lot of people expected it, but the actual decision [to sack Albers] was made at a very late stage."

There is some speculation that Albers could return to the team if the sponsorship problems that were blamed for the split could be sorted out; a scenario that Kolles admitted was a  possibility - albeit a distant one.

"You can never say never. It's always a possibility. At the moment I don't see it, but it could be."
