Sort out swerving, says Coulthard

David Coulthard says officials should have penalised Michael Schumacher for swerving across the track in the French Grand Prix

Coulthard did not blame Schumacher but said it was down to officials to enforce the rule of law. Although he went on to win in Magny-Cours, the Scot later warned someone could get killed if the Ferrari ace's ruthless tactics continue.

"Michael is perfectly entitled to do what he does until the stewards draw a line and say that's the limit," said Coulthard. "My understanding of the rulebook is that a deliberate manoeuvre across the circuit which blocks another car will be given a penalty or disqualification. At the moment the stewards are choosing not to do that."

He has said he will discuss the issue at the driver's briefing before this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, but has already confirmed that he will not be discussing the situation personally with Schumacher.

"The only thing I am concerned about is for my competitiors to know I am a hard racer, but one that races within the regulations."
