In the 'battle' for Honda supremacy, Tuesday's pace-setter Heinz-Harald Frentzen was third for Jordan, ahead of Jacques Villeneuve's BAR.

Luciano Burti was fifth for Jaguar and top of the Michelin runners, just edging San Marino Grand Prix winner Ralf Schumacher's Williams-BMW in the cold and blustery conditions.

Benetton-Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella faile dto set a time in the morning session after stopping in the stadium section and being brought back to the pits on the back of a lorry.
