Second free practice from Imola

At a hot and sunny Imola, the McLarens of Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard topped the times again in today's second free practice.

Eddie Irvine's Ferrari was just over half a second behind Hakkinen but his team-mate Schumacher could manage no better than fifth.

Damon Hill was quicker than Frentzen for the first time this year; he finished fourth quickest overall.

Jean Alesi spun his Sauber with five minutes of the second session to go while Alex Zanardi narrowly avoided a collision with the wall.

However he somehow managed to find some grip on the dry grass and put his car back on the track. Otherwise it was an incident free hour.

Combined times from practice sessions one and two.
