Schumacher impatient for more success

Ferrari's Michael Schumacher says he is champing at the bit to get on track in Austria this weekend and reverse the points deficit to world championship leader Kimi Raikkonen of McLaren

Schumacher has won the last two races, in San Marino and Barcelona, and is now four points behind Raikkonen, who failed to score last time out.

"After two strong races for us I am impatient to tackle the next grand prix, which will give us a chance to close up the gap in the world championship," said Schumacher. "Last year, the Austrian event was difficult for us [when he was waved ahead to victory by team-mate Rubens Barrichello just before the finishing line], but it is not worth making any comparisons with today, as the current situation is very different."

The introduction of Ferrari's stunning F2003-GA at Barcelona a fortnight ago has increased Schumacher's belief that he can regain the lead of the world championship this weekend in Austria, as he thinks the car's characteristics are well suited to the undulating track layout.

He added: "From a technical viewpoint, the A1-Ring demands a lot of the brakes and front tyres and you need a well balanced car not to ruin the tyres. As far as set-up is concerned, our car is a big help because it has no real weak points. The way the F2003-GA is shaping up, we can have high hopes for Austria."
