Schuey promises more from new Ferrari
Five times world champion Michael Schumacher has warned that his relatively narrow victory in the Spanish Grand Prix a fortnight ago was not a true reflection of the new Ferrari F2003-GA's capabilities
The German says he was unable to show what the car can really do due to the tyre situation on race day.
"I think that Barcelona shows the true potential of a car and if it goes well there it's supposed to go well everywhere," said Schumacher. "I don't think we could demonstrate the full potential of the new car and when you look at where the other Bridgestone users were in comparison to the Michelin runners, I don't think we were in a situation to prove it properly. I think we have a very good car."
In response to suggestions that he and team mate Rubens Barrichello had expected the new car to be stronger, Schumacher quickly replied: "We were quick enough."
Barrichello was beaten into third place by Fernando Alonso's Renault in Spain, but Michael said he had been expecting more of a challenge.
"Looking at the weekend and studying the data, I was expecting a tough fight with Fernando," Schumacher conceded. "I don't know how much we saw of the others because the McLarens went out and I think a lot of what we did see was tyres over-ruling the true potential of the situation."
