Sauber Duo Fly at Barcelona - Day Eight

German Nick Heidfeld was fastest for the second day in a row at Barcelona, while teammate Kimi Raikkonen completed a dominant top two for the Sauber-Petronas team on the eighth day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The Sauber duo, the only two Bridgestone users today, drove the new Ferrari-powered C20, Heidfeld being again the only one able to lap whitin the one minute 20 seconds bracket. Raikkonen was almost seven tenths of a second slower.

Eddie Irvine, at the wheel of the new Michelin-shod Jaguar R2 was more than two and a half seconds slower than Heidfeld. The Irishman was the busiest driver today, completing 69 laps.

Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya replaced test driver Marc Gene at Williams, continuing the work on the hybrid FW22 with the 2001 BMW engine. The new FW23, unveiled yesterday at Silverstone, will arrive on Monday.

Montoya did 42 laps and set the fourth quickest time of the day ahead of the second Jaguar of Luciano Burti, who despite completing 50 laps was more than four seconds off Heidfeld's best lap.

The Prost Grand Prix rejoined the testing session at Barcelona today, with Gaston Mazzacane at the wheel of the new AP04. The Argentinean was slowest after 39 laps.
