Saturday Second Free Practice - British GP

McLaren-Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen sent an ominous warning to his rivals after setting the pace in Saturday's final practice session ahead of qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

McLaren-Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen sent an ominous warning to his rivals after setting the pace in Saturday's final practice session ahead of qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

Raikkonen, quickest on Friday and in Saturday's first 45-minute session, set a best time of 1:18.280 to finish 0.134 seconds ahead of Jenson Button as the pace of McLaren's new MP4-19B continued to impress.

BAR-Honda driver Button, backed by a large home crowd at Silverstone, headed Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello with Renault's Jarno Trulli ending the session in fourth place.

Williams-BMW pair Marc Gene and Juan Pablo Montoya were fifth and sixth quickest respectively with David Coulthard seventh for McLaren and Ferrari's World Champion Michael Schumacher eighth.

Schumacher's session was brought to a temporary halt with 20 minutes remaining when he made another mistake heading into Priory and hurtled across the gravel, before he came back out on track in the final minutes.

Renault driver Fernando Alonso and Sauber's Giancarlo Fisichella completed the top-ten.

Minardi drivers Gianmaria Bruni and Zsolt Baumgartner were first on track after sitting out the first 45-minute session following the news that the team's sporting director John Walton passed away late on Friday night.

Italian Bruni pulled onto the grass at the side of the track at Stowe with five minutes remaining after encountering a problem.
