Rosberg: Williams form key to future

Nico Rosberg says he is determined to be in a front-running car by 2010 - and that while he would love to achieve success with Williams, he will have to look elsewhere if the team do not improve this season

The German remains adamant that he is committed to Williams and that his first choice is to stay at the Grove-based team, but only if they can return to their former glory.

"For me it's a crucial year this year," Rosberg said at the Williams pre-season media event. "Mainly because I want to have success in my sport, that's what I'm racing for. I hope that I'm going to have a car to have good success this year - it's very possible so I hope so.

"If not then I need to see, because at the latest in 2010 I want to be in a really top car. I wish it could be with Williams, that would be fantastic.

"Really it would be something special for me to have success with this team. I really get along well with all the people and it would be great to have success together. It would be a great feeling, so I hope it's with Williams."

He said he wanted to concentrate on preparations for the new season at present and would not think about his 2010 contract for some time yet.

"I don't really want to go into that at the moment because I'm not thinking about that at the moment, I'm just really focused on getting the best out of the beginning of the season, making the best of the new car, and also because it's a fascinating time - I'm very interested in technical things - and with the new rules there are so many possibilities coming in, and things you need to understand and give ideas to," said Rosberg.

"It's a really interesting time, so that's really my focus, and then we'll see about the rest. But I'm confident that they're going to give me a good car."

Rosberg has spent his whole Formula One career with Williams so far, but only has two podium finishes to show for his three years at the team.
