Red Bull hopeful of more podiums

Red Bull Racing sporting director Christian Horner is hopeful that David Coulthard's podium finish in the Monaco Grand Prix is not a flash in the pan

Coulthard made the most of problems for several front-runners, and the switch from a two-stop to a one-stop strategy, to claim Red Bull Racing's maiden podium finish.

Horner was overjoyed at the result, which comes after the team had scored just two points in the first six races of the year.

"This means a fantastic amount," said Horner on British television channel ITV. "Everyone here and at (the team's factory) Milton Keynes have been working extremely hard and this is just reward for a lot of the effort that has gone in.

"It was an excellent call to switch from two stops to one stop, and we saw the benefit and result for that.

"This will hopefully not be the last podium this season for RBR."

Red Bull Racing's start to the season has been blighted by reliability problems, which were a legacy of overheating problems that the team encountered in the first running of their RB2.

The team are planning to introduce upgrades to their car at the British Grand Prix that they hope will help move them nearer the front of the field.

"This is a stepping-stone for us," added Horner. "We have developments that everyone is working hard on. The team are starting to work great as a group.

"Silverstone is a massive event for us. It is a home crowd for the whole team and we've got updates coming. We are pushing as hard as we can to repeat that result."

And after suggestions that Horner had made a bet earlier this weekend that he would be jump naked into Red Bull's Energy Station swimming pool if they scored a podium this weekend, the team boss admitted that he was likely to get a bit wet later on.

"I stupidly made a throw away comment that I would jump into the swimming pool, and it seems to have grown into me being naked," he explained. "I am sure a bit later on I may end up being in there."
