Ralf Tops the Times at Jerez - Day Two

Williams driver Ralf Schumacher finished on top of the timesheets on the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain.

Williams driver Ralf Schumacher finished on top of the timesheets on the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain.

The German driver, who got back to racing action at last Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix following his heavy accident at the Indianapolis circuit, posted a quickest time of 1:16.847 to finish ahead of the first of the McLarens on track, driven by Austrian Alexander Wurz.

Wurz's teammate Pedro de la Rosa was the busiest man today with 105 laps on his way to the fourth fastest time of the session.

Frenchman Franck Montagny, quickest on Tuesday, was third fastest as the Renault team continued with their preparations for the Japanese Grand Prix. Montagny worked alongside Finn Heikki Kovalainen, who finished as sixth quickest today.

The BAR-Honda team continued their programme with both Anthony Davidson and Enrique Bernoldi at the wheel of the Honda-powered 006 car. Davidson was fifth fastest while Brazilian Bernoldi finished down in ninth place behind Italian Jarno Trulli.

The Toyota driver was again involved in an incident after losing his car's rear wing at the entry of the Ayrton Senna chicane. Trulli, eighth fastest, went off the track but there were no consequences and he was able to continue with his programme.

Ferrari's test driver Luca Badoer, who yesterday could only complete 18 laps before a heavy crash halted his session, hit trouble again after going off the circuit at the end of the straight. This time, however, the Italian's car stopped before hitting the tyre barriers.

Badoer completed 94 laps and finished at the bottom of the times.
