Ralf Says Williams Must Wait for Improvement

Ralf Schumacher, deeply frustrated after being beaten by brother Michael last weekend, does not expect Williams to fare much better against Ferrari in Spain next week.

Ralf Schumacher, deeply frustrated after being beaten by brother Michael last weekend, does not expect Williams to fare much better against Ferrari in Spain next week.

Schumacher, who is second in the standings with 20 points behind his brother's 34 after four races, said his team could not expect to make up the gap between them and the World Champions in a hurry.

"We really don't have the time to make any major improvements because the next race is coming up in Barcelona," he said on his website on Thursday.

"The car was super, the Michelin tyres were excellent, the strategy was fine and I still came in 20 seconds behind my brother - that is more than frustrating," he said of his third place in Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix.

"After crossing the finish line (in Imola) I pressed the button on the team radio and was frustrated as I told the team 'Thanks for the great job all weekend, the car was great but we were too slow for Ferrari'."

Four times champion Michael led Brazilian Rubens Barrichello to a Ferrari one-two at Imola.

Ralf had faced withering criticism in Germany two weeks ago for apparently not trying hard enough to pass Michael in Brazil, where the older Schumacher won and he finished second.
