Ralf not worried about F1 future

Ralf Schumacher says he is not worried about his future in Formula One, downplaying rumours that his position at Toyota is his jeopardy

The German driver has struggled to match his teammate Jarno Trulli's pace this season, and he has scored just one point in fives races.

A torrid Monaco Grand Prix, in which he qualified in 20th position, prompted rumours that Toyota were considering replacing him from the French Grand Prix next month.

The Toyota driver has denied those reports, however, and said he remains calm about his prospects for the future.

"Well, I think there is a lot of talk due to the results I've had recently and I think that's only normal but you don't need to worry about me," said Schumacher in a press conference ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

"You should know that not everything you read is quite true, that's the way it is. At the moment we are simply concentrating on getting some results.

"Neither myself nor the team has been brilliant so far and that is what we are concentrating on, nothing else has been discussed anyway."

Despite his comments, sources have told autosport.com that Toyota are considering Schumacher's future in the team.

Schumacher added: "Obviously I'm not happy with the points we achieved this year, with the results I've achieved but I'm not too frustrated yet.

"There are times in motorsport when it is difficult, that's what Formula One is all about. You have to fight through it that is all."
