Qualifying lottery for the Monaco Grand Prix?
The prospect of a mixed-up grid for the seventh round of the Formula 1 World Championship looks a possibility with the chance of rain showers falling on the world-famous street circuit during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix
Slightly unsettled conditions over France's Mediterranean coast mean that Thursday's free practice sessions and the race itself will be run under cloudy skies. However, the real action could happen on Saturday if the predicted thunder plumps (Sudden, heavy falls, apparently - non-meteorological ed) hit the harbour area during qualifying.
The prospect of a wet Monaco circuit may give encouragement to those teams who have sorted out their traction control systems, since the electronic gizmo should come into its own in the wet and around twisty, slow corner circuits. This could provide a chance for some of the mid-field contenders to cause some upsets in qualifying.
The chances of a wet race are slimmer, with cloudy skies forecast for Sunday. But with temperatures a pleasant 21 deg C, the glitterati who frequent this most glamorous of races on the F1 calendar should still be able to look their best on race day.
Sunshine and showers Max 21 deg C
Partly Cloudy Max 21 deg C
