Q & A with Timo Glock

Q: What are your expectations for this weekend?

Timo Glock: We have to fight for the podium again. Brawn for the moment looks on top of everybody. Maybe we can fight for the win against them, but at the moment I would say that Brawn is on top and everything behind is really close.

Red Bull looks strong, BMW looks strong, Williams looks strong strong, we are strong and Renault as well was not far away. It is tight, but it can change. Last year, Williams was on the podium in Australia and then had massive problems here. Maybe Brawn GP will have the same problem - but I don't think so.

The positive thing in all the winter tests, at all the race tracks - Jerez, Bahrain, Barcelona - they are three different types of circuit and every time we were quick. In wet conditions as well. This shows a consistent pace, a stable car, but I think Brawn will be the same. They were strong in Barcelona and Jerez and Melbourne.

Q: After the race, Alonso said that he was disappointed by KERS, but we heard you on the radio saying it's impossible to overtake?

TG: On every straight he used KERS. You can see when the 6.6 seconds are over how quickly the car gets slower. It was quite obvious that he used the KERS system a lot of times.

Q: You've had the chance to see the Brawn performance in terms of laptimes and watching their cars on the track. What areas do you think they have an advantage in?

TG: On overall speed they are just a couple of tenths quicker than us and they are really consistent. They have almost no drop-off of the tyres. This is the main difference at the moment.

Q: You really think it's only a couple of tenths?

TG: The question mark is whether they showed their real pace in Melbourne. This is where there is a little doubt.

Q: Are you confident that the developments you have to come will give you a realistic chance of getting on terms with, or ahead of, Brawn?

TG: It is more tricky this year without testing. We have to have a solid base from the first race on. Then we have to push as hard as possible and bring more parts to the races.

Q: What are the main differences between you and when you were first in F1?

TG: There's a big difference. Now I am a couple of years older, more experienced and from last year to this year has also been a big step. It makes life so much easier to gain one year of experience in F1. You know your engineers, you know the team.

Q: Will a wet race help you to close the gap to Brawn, or is it not such a good thing for Toyota?

TG: It's difficult to say. We were really quick in winter testing, especially when it was wet, but don't know how the Brawns are in wet conditions. They will be quick as well. Wet conditions should be not too bad for us.
