Q & A with Michael Schumacher

Q. How difficult is it with the tyre problem?

Michael Schumacher: Definitely we are too slow and this is very obvious. In those weather conditions we are simply not competitve. Its the best we could do.

Q. What's the weather forecast for tomorrow?

MS: It is mixed. There is less chance of rain

Q. With Renault on the front row, can you do anything in the race?

MS: At least we kept the damage within limits. If the weather conditions stay like this it is not encouraging to do more, but if it is dry then let's see what we can do. It is difficult to talk about winning it, but it is a long race.

Q. What can you expect from Massa?

MS: Obviously from where he starts you cannot fight at the top

Q. What about 'poor old Michael' on the radio?

MS: I don't care. It is a normal comment. I can live with it.

Q. How welcome do you feel here in China?

MS: It is very interesting here. The atmosphere is very impressive, it is very intense.

Q. Will there be a fightback tomorrow?

MS: I am in sixth position, not 20th so I will try and go as far as possible. There is no question.I f we don't win then there are still two races to go.

Q. Are you still hoping for victory?

MS: That is not really what I said. But you can never exclude things. This race is for 56 laps so you don't know how a race develops. But if the conditions are like this and our competitveness stays the same it will be very difficult.

Q. What about the battle with Alonso tomorrow?

MS: It depends on the conditions. If it is like today then there will probably be no battle today. If it is dry who knows.

Q. How close were you to not make into the last 10?

MS: It was my last lap. I knew what I had to do but it wasn't easy. That's our job though. We kept the damage to a minimum though.

Q. Are you disappointed with Bridgestone?

MS: We saw a similar thing in hungary. We tried some new things but it didn't work out. We have to live with the situation and I still think we can do it.

Q. Is there anything wrong with car?

MS:. No, there was nothing wrong with the car. It was the conditions.

Q. Do you still feel it was the right time to retire, feeling so quick and strong?

MS: Yes

Q. Is today's result a disaster for the championship?

MS: No, not at all. If we lose some points here then there are still two races to go. We will give everything we can.
