Prost lauds Korean F3 winner Cochet

Talented French youngster Jonathan Cochet has earned high praise from Formula 1 team boss Alain Prost following his win in last Sunday's prestigious Formula 3 Superprix in South Korea

Cochet dominated the event, taking pole and winning both races. Already an official tester for the F1 strugglers, Cochet is seen by Prost as the future of French motorsport.

"Jonathan's latest success make me feel extremely happy and proud for him," said Prost. "This shows how much we were right in trusting him by making him a part of Prost Grand Prix's challenge. It is now clear that he carries the hopes of French motorsports alongside us."

And Prost knows what it feels like to carry the hopes of a nation. The racing legend racked up 51 Grand Prix wins on his way to four F1 world titles. However severe financial problems currently mean his F1 team is struggling to make the 2002 grid, but Cochet realises the morale boost his Korean win gives the team.

"This victory is even more important as it happens in a particular moment of Prost Grand Prix history," said Cochet. "I am proud to dedicate this success to Alain Prost, who has shown his total confidence in my talent by electing me as his F1 team's test driver this season."
