Piquet, Rosberg get F1 tests

The sons of former Williams world champions Keke Rosberg and Nelson Piquet will test for the Formula 1 team at Jerez next month

Nelson Angelo Piquet and Nico Rosberg join current drivers Ralf Schumacher and Marc Gene during the three-day test in Spain from December 2-4. Piquet will test the FW25 on the second and the morning of the fourth, while Rosberg will run on the third and in the afternoon of the fourth.

"We are testing with the young drivers to evaluate their ability in an F1 car and whether or not they could assist with our testing programme in the future," said chief operations engineer at WilliamsF1, Sam Michael. "They have been working with us over the last couple of months to ensure they are well prepared for the test and it's clear already that both are quite mature in their approach. This is another sign of WilliamsF1's contribution to the sport by assisting in the progression of the next generation of drivers."

Piquet finished third in this year's British Formula 3 Championship, while Rosberg was a race winner in the F3 EuroSeries. Rosberg also impressed in his first Williams run at Barcelona last December.
