Pastor Maldonado convinced Williams will bounce back from Korea showing

The Grove-based outfit endured one of its least competitive weekends at Yeongam, with neither Maldonado nor team-mate Bruno Senna reaching the top ten in qualifying.

The Venezuelan finished the race in 14th position, one place ahead of the Brazilian.

Maldonado, however, is convinced Williams has the ability to bounce back in this weekend's Indian Grand Prix.

"We've been working very hard, especially on the last race to identify where the problems were," said Maldonado on Thursday in India.

"We saw the problem. We've been working on that and I hope here will be much better for us than Korea.

"It will be difficult as well, because all the teams are pushing very hard. The cars are very close, especially to get into Q3, but that's our mission. We need to push hard and try to put the car in the top ten in qualifying. That would be great for us. And then to be in the points would be perfect."

Maldonado, who won the Spanish Grand Prix this year, said it was hard to understand why Williams's season has been filled with ups and downs.

"I think many things didn't work in Korea. It was the worst race for us as a team this year. It was nothing different than in the past. Remember that a couple of races ago we were on the front row in Singapore fighting for a podium.

"So it's difficult to understand why the same car doesn't work on different tracks. We just need to keep calm, stay focused, and try to optimise what we have."

The Williams driver is expecting a very busy Friday practice as his team evaluates several new parts.

"We have some new bits. New front wing and a couple of small components around the car. So we need to value everything very well and to try to get the best compromise."
