Paddy Power: Rubens on a high

Think back to Rubens Barrichello in Austria. Ignore Monte Carlo. Remember that if Ferrari had reacted more quickly Rubens might have had a decent shot at Canada and then remember Nurburgring.

The fact is that with an ounce of decent fortune, Rubens just might have won three of the last four races. Nobody will claim he's a match for Michael Schumacher but the point is, he's on an up, with his confidence is riding high.

Add to the equation Barrichello's liking for Silverstone and the suitability of his economic style to the Northamptonshire track and it is worth a close look at his odds. Driving the best car, odds of 4-1 on Barrichello scoring a second successive win are worth a look. Perhaps split it with a covering bet on Schuey? Likewise, 9-2 on Barrichello setting the fastest lap of the race is attractive.

For those of you who like to think that one day Michael Schumacher won't finish a race, then Rubens/Ralf Schumacher in any order at 20-1 is worth a few quid, with Rubens/Juan Pablo Montoya offered at 11-1.

The Benettons (Button, 7-4 and Trulli 2-1) to score points is worthy of consideration but if you are looking for a long shot, try Allan McNish at 10-1. The cards haven't fallen for him so far, but the Toyota has been a top 10 qualifier five times and Allan at least knows Silverstone like the back of his hand. He needs a result, too.
