Mugello test, day 2: Schumacher takes over

Michael Schumacher took over testing duties from Luca Badoer on the second day of running at Mugello, and the Ferrari number one driver went straight to the top of the times, with a fastest lap of 1m24.42s

Ferrari, Sauber and Minardi were all at the test, developing their traction control systems in time for the Spanish Grand Prix at the end of the month.

Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was second quickest, however the young German only ran in the morning. His day was curtailed when he spun off coming round the last corner of the Tuscan circuit, damaging his car in the process.

Rubens Barrichello got the award for hardest-working driver at the test, completing a mammoth 75 laps of the 3.26-mile circuit. His quickest time was just one tenth of second slower than Heidfeld's.

Fernando Alonso's Minardi rounded off the times: his best lap was three seconds slower than Schumacher's Ferrari.
