FIA president Max Mosley's press conference, scheduled for today, has been cancelled due to flight problems, the FIA said in a statement.
"Due to a problem with his flight arrangements, FIA President Max Mosley will not attend the 2003 Australian Grand Prix as previously planned," the FIA said. "The FIA Press Conference scheduled for 15.00 hrs on Thursday, March 6th, has therefore been cancelled."
Mosley was scheduled to arrive in Melbourne, where the first round of the 2003 Championship takes place this weekend, in order to, among others, meet team bosses Ron Dennis and Frank Williams and attempt to reach a settlement with the two over their threats to take the FIA to arbitration.
Furthermore, Mosley was scheduled to be the sole participant in today's traditional press conference. This is the first official Grand Prix press conference held by the FIA in several years to be cancelled.
The FIA also said in a statement today that BMW sporting director Gerhard Berger will join tomorrow's press conference. Berger announced today he will be leaving BMW at the end of this season, and he will join Ron Dennis, Eddie Jordan, Jean Todt, Paul Stoddart and Frank Williams in tomorrow's conference.
