Montoya wants more fun at home

Juan Pablo Montoya is hoping that his second Monaco GP will be a more enjoyable experience than his first. The Colombian crashed out of last year's race early on, so he's determined to take the chequered flag this year and consolidate his second place in the championship

"I can't say I really enjoyed my debut in Monaco last year and overall it was a difficult weekend for me," he admitted. "I thought initially that it would be a lot more fun than it was and in fact it was extremely hard work."

Like many of his F1 peers, Montoya is a resident of the principality. However, he says he's no great fan of his 'home' GP.

"It's a very fancy weekend and a glamorous event, but maybe it's a bit too classy and I am not really that kind of person."

Team-mate Ralf Schumacher has failed to finish at Monte Carlo in each of his five previous attempts, so it's no surprise that it's not one of the German's favourite races either.

"I once remember someone saying that racing an F1 car around Monaco is just like flying a helicopter in your bedroom," he joked. "Monaco isn't an up-to-date race anymore, but maybe it's a race that relates to the spirit of a different age - the atmosphere is impressive, even if I don't particularly like racing there."

The Williams team does not have a very strong record in the Monaco GP. It has claimed two victories, but its last was back in 1983 with Keke Rosberg.
