Montoya up for Barca challenge

Williams star Juan Pablo Montoya is relishing the prospect of getting his championship challenge back on track at Barcelona next weekend

Last year the Colombian finished second in the Spanish GP to score his first F1 points. After a disappointing result in San Marino, he knows he needs a strong finish next time out and is targeting another podium position.

"I have a very positive memory of the circuit," he said, "especially as it took until my fifth race to get to the finish and I ended up doing it on a track where we weren't especially competitive - so let's see how it goes this year."

Team-mate Ralf Schumacher was downbeat after finishing third at Imola, 20 seconds behind race winner Michael Schumacher. At Silverstone last week the team tested some new parts, and Ralf is hoping these will help close the gap at what is generally considered to be a Ferrari circuit.

"Even though I would have really enjoyed winning at Imola last weekend, my frustration at the outcome was short-lived and my confidence for the next race is good," he said. "Barcelona is a very difficult track to approach. It shows instantly who is good and who is not. We were quite competitive in the early season test, but we now need to improve to catch up with the new Ferrari."

Williams has a superb record at the Circuit de Catalunya. The team won the first four races at the track following its introduction to the F1 calendar in 1991. Jacques Villeneuve scored another win on his way to the championship in 1997, but that was the team's last triumph at a track which generally rewards aerodynamic efficiency.
