Montoya: Schumacher Should Have Waited for Title

Juan Pablo Montoya said on Thursday that Michael Schumacher should have taken advantage of his domination and waited until this weekend's Italian Grand Prix to win the World Championship in front of the Ferrari tifosi.

Schumacher wrapped up his seventh world title with a disappointing second place finish at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the last race and Colombian Williams driver Montoya believes he missed a trick by winning too soon.

"Why win it (there)? The Olympic Games were still on, marketing-wise it was terrible," said Montoya. "He even did a press conference here to talk about nothing to get more press coverage. He should have won it here, home crowd and everything.

"Marketing-wise he was better to win it here than there. If I was him I would have wanted to win it here and if he didn't win it there then he was going to win it here anyway."

Schumacher has already won 12 of the 14 races so far this season but has already stated his wish to claim a lucky 13th win in front of his Ferrari team's loyal followers in the team's 701st race this weekend.
