Montoya expects to be closer

Juan Pablo Montoya says he has not been demotivated by Ferrari's supremacy at the San Marino Grand Prix a fortnight ago

"It was actually a bit of a surprise how good they were," Montoya admitted, "but I was also a bit surprised that Rubens was not quicker in the race.

"You can't win them all and you have to appreciate that the gaps will vary at different tracks. Michael is a good driver in the best car and so he's difficult to beat, it's simple. You have to work hard to improve the car, the engine, the tyres and drive better than him.

"I think this weekend could be tough. Barcelona is all about downforce so I think it is going to be a hard weekend for us, but having said that, we have evolved quite a lot since Imola and I think that the maximum gap will be what you saw at the last race. I would hope that we would be two or three tenths closer here. Ferrari looked good in the test here but you never know how much fuel anyone is running. It's always a big question.

"For the rest of the season we should be closer than at Imola. We are going to be good on some race tracks and not so good on other ones, it's normal.

Hopefully we can still challenge for the championship."
