McNish fired up for first Brit GP
Allan McNish can't wait for the weekend when he will make his British Grand Prix debut in what is bound to be a special occasion for the Scot
The Toyota ace hurt his shoulder racing at the European GP two weeks ago as a new seat made driving very uncomfortable. But McNish says he is fully fit for his biggest race of the year.
"I had a lot of physio on my shoulder after the last race and it is now fine," he said. "I'm raring to go for my home race! It will be great to race in front of my own friends and family, and fellow Scot David Coulthard tells me that the atmosphere on race day is pretty special, so I'm looking forward to that.
"I enjoy driving at Silverstone and I know my way around it pretty well, so I hope I can use that experience to get a good performance."
His team-mate Mika Salo reckons that Toyota's Michelin tyres will be the key to a good result at Silverstone.
"Silverstone is a good track, although not as good as it used to be," said the Finn. "It's one of the old, established grands prix, and there is a lot of history to the place, which I like. I hope the car will go well there, but I think a lot will depend on our ability to find the right set-up for the tyres brought to the race by Michelin.
"Apart from the weather, I enjoy racing in England. The fans are knowledgeable and supportive and the food is okay - but I prefer Italian!"
