McLaren can finish second, says Mika

Mika Hakkinen is confident McLaren will win its battle to finish second in the constructors' championship. The double world champion believes the British outfit has taken a massive step forward at the Belgian Grand Prix after he and team mate David Coulthard both finished in the points

The Scot claimed second place, while Hakkinen finished in fourth to give McLaren 9 points and earn them a 22-point cushion over nearest rivals Williams with three rounds remaining

BMW-Williams bombed out of the race after dominating qualifying. Montoya first stalled on the grid in pole position and then failed to finish the race, while Ralf Schumacher was seventh.

"This is a huge step forward in the constructors' championship and I think we are looking pretty good now for second," said the Finn. "Things didn't go that smoothly for us, but at least both David and I scored points. Williams also had a bad day, which has worked to our advantage."

Hakkinen, however, admitted he struggled to come home in fourth after battling with his Mercedes-powered car for most of the race.

"At the second start everything looked OK, but it wasn't," he continued. "Everything just went downhill which gave the opportunity for Giancarlo Fisichella to overtake and David. Even Jenson Button overtook me."
