Massa still hopeful for the race

Felipe Massa is still hopeful the weather conditions in tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix can conspire to help him beat the McLarens

The Ferrari driver will start the race from third place after Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton secured a front row lockout for McLaren, the British squad stopping their Italian rivals' streak after four consecutive poles.

But with chances of rain in tomorrow's race, Massa still believes there is a possbility he can score his third win in a row and give Ferrari their first Monaco victory since 2001.

"Well, the conditions today were pretty difficult," said the Brazilian. "Tomorrow we have the possibility to have showers in the race and if we have that maybe it will be a lottery, so it will be a fun race.

"But hopefully we will do everything in the right way. Hopefully we can put everything together tomorrow."

Massa had a scare in the second qualifying session, when he found the stricken car of his teammate Kimi Raikkonen stopped at the Rascasse corner, in a flashback to last year, when Michael Schumacher blocked the track to secure pole.

The Finn's car, however, was genuinely damaged.

"I just saw the yellow flag but I didn't expect someone to stop in the middle of the track and it was a bit of a moment, but I managed to pass by without touching," said Massa.

"I think qualifying was not so bad and looking at the pace of McLaren in practice and Q1 and Q2, in the end I think I managed to get a good lap.

"You know racing in Monaco is special and there are always some surprises around, so hopefully we can have a good race tomorrow, score as many points (as possible) and hopefully be on the podium."
