Massa optimistic for British GP

Felipe Massa is optimistic his Ferrari team will bounce back from the disappointment of Monaco by running strongly at the British Grand Prix next week

The Italian squad endured a weekend to forget at Monte Carlo, with their cars starting from the back of the grid and only Michael Schumacher scoring, thanks a fifth place finish.

Massa, who crashed during qualifying, finished in ninth place outside of the point-scoring positions.

And although Ferrari were the only top team not to join the Silverstone test at the end of April, Massa sees no reason why the Italian squad should not be fighting on top.

"I know it may be better if you test on the track before the race but I think our car will be competitive there," the Brazilian told autosport.com during a break in testing at Barcelona.

"We have a good speed so we can do lots of work here to prepare the race in Silverstone."

Massa is looking to enjoy a strong race at Silverstone following Ferrari's poor weekend in Monte Carlo.

"It was a weekend to forget but the car was good there, the set-up was optimum, I was pretty confident. It was my mistake (in qualifying), the car itself was very very good there. That is why we need a good race in Silverstone."
