Liuzzi Still Hopeful of Red Bull Drive

Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi is still hopeful of landing a racing seat at the Red Bull Racing team for the 2005 season.

Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi is still hopeful of landing a racing seat at the Red Bull Racing team for the 2005 season.

F3000 champion Liuzzi has been testing for Red Bull since the start of the pre-season and he is one of the front runners for the second seat alongside Austrian Christian Klien. Scot David Coulthard has already been confirmed at the team.

"Before Christmas I was in England to complete my physical preparation. After the break for the festivities we'll go back to testing, which won't be done with the sole aim of employment with the team," Liuzzi told Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"There are still five vacant seats in F1, but with Red Bull we've built a very good relationship, and I'd like to carry on with them one way or another."

Liuzzi also reiterated Red Bull's intention of having him and Klien sharing the second racing seat.

"Let's say that two weeks ago everything was clear: it was just a matter of finding out who, between myself and Klien, would be Red Bull's first driver," he added.

"It's a role that eventually was given to Coulthard, but the owners of the ex-Jaguar team are determined to use both of us, maybe alternatingly."
