Lauda Satisfied with Double Finish

Jaguar boss Niki Lauda was satisfied with both his drivers crossing the finish line after a dismal weekend for the Milton Keynes team.

Jaguar boss Niki Lauda was satisfied with both his drivers crossing the finish line after a dismal weekend for the Milton Keynes team.

Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa and Irishman Eddie Irvine had endured another disappointing qualifying session on Saturday, setting the 20th and 21st quickest times respectively, and despite finishing the race two laps down, Lauda was pleased to see both cars making it to the end.

"A good all round job by the team today," said Lauda. "Our drivers did an excellent job today in what were undoubtedly difficult conditions. We encountered more traffic than we expected and it certainly went towards making our race strategy harder.

"Nonetheless, two Jaguars have crossed the finishing line at Monaco and while we were obviously slower than we would have otherwise liked, our race pace wasn't all that bad today. It has been a long and challenging Monaco Grand Prix and even though both cars started from the back, I don't think we could have asked for anything else than 9th and 10th places."

Jaguar have scored only three points so far this year and are currently in seventh place in the Constructors' standings.
