JPM: We knew it was going to be difficult

Juan Pablo Montoya has admitted that he knew the Williams team were in for a "difficult weekend" at the Spanish Grand Prix, after a tough qualifying session in which the Colombian could only set the 14th fastest time

Williams is still struggling to find a balance for its troublesome FW25 in qualifying trim. Montoya's run was hampered by oversteer whilst Ralf Schumacher, who qualified 11th, admitted to making several mistakes because of his troubles with the cars handling.

"We knew that this was going to be a tough weekend for us and this afternoon's times show that we are still struggling to find the right balance for our car on this track," confessed Montoya. "I had some oversteer on my qualifying lap which severely affected my performance. Let's work on it now and hopefully sort it out for tomorrow."

Schumacher had set the fastest time in this morning's practice session, but Williams' chief operations engineer Sam Michael admitted they had gone the wrong way on set-up. "After looking competitive this morning we went in the wrong direction on the set-up and had a few problems with the balance on both cars which cause us to lose quite a bit of time in qualifying," he said. "Now we are going to have a look at the data to make sure we can sort this out for tomorrow.

Schumacher was left unsatisfied by his run. "Obviously the first qualifying session was not satisfying for me," he said. "I was struggling with the balance of the car and made a few mistakes. In one corner I nearly lost the car. Though, I am not too worried, in qualifying we have not yet seen the full potential of the FW25."
