Juan Pablo Montoya says he is fed up with everyone praising Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and believes given the right equipment he could have achieved just what the German has this year

Schumacher has romped through the first half of the season collecting nine of the ten wins on offer, most of them in a dominating fashion. His latest was at the French Grand Prix last weekend when the German and his team pulled off a magnificent strategic race that saw Schumacher pit four times to take the win.

Montoya doesn't believe the Ferrari driver is anything special though and believes it's all about the car beneath him.

"I'll be honest with you," he told The Independent newspaper. "I don't understand what all the...all the b******* is about Michael. If we had the car he had, we could probably win the championship as well.

"I think you hear it every five minutes, and I get bored hearing how Michael does things, how Michael wins and you don't. I think Michael wins because he's got the car to win and we don't."

Newly-appointed technical director Sam Michael though believes there's more to it than a fast bit of kit and says Montoya himself needs to improve in several areas.

"Juan has got better and better, but now he needs to make a quantum leap," he said. "You can't just sit back and say that it's all down to the designers to get the best out of the car."
