Jordan to test Albers

DTM touring car series front-runner Christijan Albers will test for the Jordan Formula 1 team on December 1 in Jerez, Spain. The Dutch driver had a seat fitting at the team's Silverstone factory this week in preparation for the squad's first test session since the end of the 2004 season

Albers had organised the drive with the British-based team at Silverstone on September 15 with the help of Jordan's Dutch sponsors Trust. But the Dutchman postponed the test to concentrate on the rest of the German DTM touring car championship.

It won't be the first time the Dutchman has driven an F1 car, the former German F3 champion was a test driver for Minardi in 2002.

"Christijan is a quick and committed up-and-coming talent, as we've seen in German F3 and this year in DTM," said team boss Eddie Jordan. "We have a mutual sponsor in Trust so we have been watching his career with interest. I have wanted to test him for some time so I am glad that the opportunity has finally come - it's an exciting time for all of us."

Jordan's test will run through to December 4 with an interim chassis and a 2004-spec Cosworth engine. Drivers for the remainder of the test will be announced shortly by the team.
