Jordan looks on the bright side

Giancarlo Fisichella qualified sixth in his Honda-powered EJ12, but dropped to ninth after the start and retired eight laps from the end when his engine failed. He was running 10th at the time.

His team-mate Takuma Sato made it to the flag, but was out of the points in eighth place. He had moved up from 12th on the grid.

"I think we can come away from this weekend with great integrity in terms of the progress we have made," said Jordan. "To qualify sixth, just as we did in Canada, was a good achievement but sometimes things don't work out as expected, which is what happened to Giancarlo.

"Takuma drove well, and when you look at their performance in warm-up, both the drivers and the car were on the pace."

Fisichella had only been slower than the two Ferraris in the warm-up, with Sato backing up that performance with the fifth best time.

As Formula 1 heads into the mid-summer break, Jordan lies sixth in the constructors' championship. Sauber is five points ahead in fifth, with Renault a further four in front. The Silverstone team has set a target of fourth in the championship with five races to go.
