Jordan hoping for wet weather

Jordan Grand Prix's best chance of a good result at the British Grand Prix this weekend will come if it rains, according to the team's director of race and test engineering Gary Anderson

Jordan is based just over the road from Silverstone and it could do with a lift at its home race following the collision between Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato at the first corner of the European GP two weeks ago.

"Silverstone is a fairly tough track which demands the car to be good aerodynamically, mechanically and in terms of power, so it will be a challenge in every respect," Anderson said. "It should suit us better if it's a wet weekend, but there are never any guarantees. It's good to be racing at home, and hopefully it will be a good race for our fans."

Both drivers are well aware how important a good result for the team would be at Silverstone.

Fisichella said: "Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits and I'm doubly committed because it is Jordan's home race and we need to re-start our positive series of results which unfortunately halted at the Nurburgring."

Speculation suggests that Sato's place at the team is in doubt for next year and the talented Japanese needs to start scoring some good results if he is to save his seat. Last year he won the British GP Formula 3 support race.

"I'm looking forward to Silverstone as I competed here in British F3 last year and I see it as a home race," said Sato. "It is a good track for Jordan because we often test here and hopefully we will be in good shape."
