Jerez, day four: Villeneuve fastest

With only BAR-Honda and Toyota left at Jerez for the final day of the test, Jacques Villeneuve set the pace ahead of Ricardo Zonta. The French-Canadian, who concentrated on Bridgestone tyre construction and aero work, left the Spanish circuit happy with his completed programme and optimistic about BAR's chances in next weekend's US GP at Indianapolis

"I've done lots of tyre work today, mainly for Indy," he said before flying back to Montreal. "I think we have found some good compounds that we can work with at Indy.

"We also found some good direction on the aero package we are taking to the States and I think we can work with it. The only problem with today was that it was so windy, it was very hard to drive, but to be honest I think we are looking good for the US GP."

Zonta spent the day concentrating on suspension and electronic developments for the 2004 Toyota and reported good progress despite encountering an electrical glitch during the day's running. "It's been a fun day today," he said. "It's all very interesting!"
