Jenson turns his attention to Hockenheim
Jenson Button says he won't let his big money switch to British American Racing get in the way of his preparations for this weekend's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim
Current Renault star Button has scored points in both Hockenheim races he has contested in his grand prix career, and wants to add to the tally of 11 points he has already amassed this season.
"I finished fifth last year, and coming from the back of the grid in 2000 to fourth was great," he said. "Hopefully we can create the same sort of memories this year - although I hope we don't start from the back!"
Button says he will miss the old circuit layout, but is looking forward to the new challenge of the revamped track.
"I have seen the new track in drawings and I had a look at it on the computer at the factory," he said. "We have been trying to work out the gear ratios and set-ups, but it is still difficult to know what it is going to be like until you drive it. It's good to have a new circuit, though, to have something different.
"It looks like it has some interesting areas. The long curved straight into the hairpin is good, although it seems a bit scary because it's so tight and we will be carrying a lot of speed into the braking area. There should be a lot of overtaking there, but I think we'll probably see a few people outbraking themselves, too."
