Jenson guns for Silverstone

The British Grand Prix might still be over a month away, but BAR-Honda star Jenson Button has already targeted victory at Silverstone on July 11, saying a maiden grand prix win on home ground would be "the most amazing thing"

Button has scored five podium finishes this year, his best result being runner-up to Renault's Jarno Trulli at Monaco. He says he can't wait for the British round of the championship at Silverstone next month to try and go one step better.

"It would be awesome to win anywhere but even more so at Silverstone," said Button. "It's a very fast and flowing circuit and those are the circuits I like. In front of your home crowd got to be the most amazing thing to win or even get onto the podium. So I'm looking forward to Silverstone and I think it will be a very special Grand Prix for the whole team, and hopefully it's going to be busy and we'll put on a good show."

In the meantime, Button is focused on the Canadian, US and French grands prix, and he thinks they offer the chance to pressure Ferrari, which is currently dominating the standings.

"We are not just out there to beat all the other Michelin teams, we want to beat Ferrari and our strategy is always to win," he added. "I think we'll be even closer to Ferrari over the next few races and that means we'll be closer to our dream, which is to win."
