Jenson Button Q&A
Jenson Button's 2001 season hasn't got off to a great start, and Friday practice at the Brazilian GP saw him languishing in 22nd and last place in the field. Of course it will get better from here, and everyone at Benetton knew that the early races would be tough, but that doesn't make it any easier for Jenson. Especially now that he can see how much progress Williams has made since the end of last season. Adam Cooper spoke to Jenson at Interlagos
"Not at the moment, no, it's not going great! It was always going to be tough at the start of the season. But I think we're improving. There are some new bits on the car that are coming out later this year, so it's something to look forward to."
"The new Renault engine, because obviously it's a radical engine. Also there are a lot of good people in the team, but they all arrived very late, and it's been very difficult to get them together I think."
"I think it is, the engine will be better in the long term. It's pretty tough at the moment, but I know there's something good in the future."
"It is tough. It is very, very tough, but hopefully we're going to improve throughout this year. If we're 16th or 18th at the end of the year I won't be very happy, but I think we're going to improve."
"Yeah, there will be over the next few races back in Europe, and it will be interesting to see what happens at Barcelona with all the rule changes."
"I think it will level things out, but I'm not a huge fan of the rule change."
"It's difficult to know what is the best at the moment. I think the Bridgestone is probably still up there, but the Michelin is improving, which is the main thing. Being third on the grid at their second race in Malaysia isn't too bad."
"It's got better! Away from the circuit it's great, I'm very relaxed, very happy with everything. It's just a bit tough at the moment on the circuit."
