Jani, Speed to Test for Red Bull
GP2 drivers Neel Jani and Scott Speed will test for Red Bull in Barcelona next week, the team announced today
Swiss Jani and American Speed are both members of the Red Bull Junior team, which includes 16 drivers in various categories, selected through the company's Drivers Search Programme. Jani has tested a Formula One car for Sauber and Jaguar Racing, while for Speed next week's test would be the first in an F1 car.
"Having our own Formula One team now provides us with a logical pinnacle for our junior driver programme," said Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner.
"The Barcelona test is part of our development schedule. We will be using last year's car to carry out engine testing work, which does not need to involve our race drivers, so we decided to introduce Speed to F11, while Jani has already tested for Sauber-Petronas and [Jaguar Racing] last year. They will complete the two days in Barcelona between them."
"Last weekend, I got to test the GP2 car in Paul Ricard and it was great," commented Speed. "And now the Formula One car - there's nothing to top this."
"Of course, Formula One is the big goal for me and this test is one step further towards it," added Jani.
Jani and Speed will run their testing duties on March 24-25, at the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.
