Jaguar and BAR Shake Down New Cars

Luciano Burti shook down the new Jaguar at the Silverstone circuit on Wednesday under damp conditions, but it was BAR who took the honours of being the first team to run with the 2001 car.

The Jaguar R2, which was unveiled on Tuesday at Jaguar's Research and Development base in Coventry, was fitted with the new 2001 front wing which was not shown at the launch, and only completed an installation lap to check that everything worked properly.

Meanwhile Eddie Irvine continued the development of some new components in an interim R1B chassis.

Despite being the first team to launch their new car, Jaguar was not the first one to get it running on track, as the BAR team shook down their new 03 chassis at Silverstone an hour before Burti came out of the pits.

Frenchman Olivier Panis drove the unliveried new BAR-Honda in front of many of the team's members, including managing director Craig Pollock.

The new car, which is to be launched on January 26th, ran a couple of installation laps without any problems.

Also present at Silverstone was the Arrows team with Jos Verstappen at the wheel of the car, which ran several new hydraulic components that are destined for the A22.
