Jacques Villeneuve Q&A

Feeling no ill-effects from his Melbourne shunt, Jacques Villeneuve starts the Malaysian GP from seventh place on the grid, having been up in the top six earlier in the session. He beat team mate Olivier Panis, but lost out in the Honda war to Jordan's Jarno Trulli, who jumped up the order right at the end. Last year Jacques had an aggressive run to fifth at Sepang, and once again he'll be in the thick of the action at the sharp end of the field. Adam Cooper spoke to the Canadian

"A little. We had some problems and we didn't fix them, and the last lap was a little bit messy, so too bad."

"Just a bit. It seems that as in Melbourne they [Williams] have good tyres for qualifying, but less for the race. But they also have a huge engine for qualifying, and that seems to have helped them a little bit today."

"They were behind the Ferraris in the first race in Melbourne in qualifying, and the same thing happened here today. It's just that the other cars are closer to the Ferraris and managed to get in between the McLarens and Ferraris."

"Yes, it seemed good until the last run!"

"I would say so. The qualifying will be a different story from the race for the most of the year. For the past few years whatever you saw in qualifying happened in the race as well. I think it's going to change a little bit."

"It's going to be a tough race for everyone - it's going to be very hot and very, very physical."

"The team has improved, but so has every other team, apart from McLaren, who seem like they're the only team that didn't improve from last year. But we're the same as the rest of the field."
