Irvine Warns of 'Dangerous' Wet Spa

Jaguar driver Eddie Irvine has labelled the Spa-Francorchamps circuit as dangerous in wet conditions as he prepares for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

Jaguar driver Eddie Irvine has labelled the Spa-Francorchamps circuit as dangerous in wet conditions as he prepares for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

Irvine has admitted unlike most of the current drivers, that he is not a fan of the fast Spa circuit and with the unpredictable weather conditions that often cover the weekend, the British driver is not confident of a strong result.

"I am not a huge fan of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit," said Irvine, whose best result at the Belgian race is a fourth place in 1999 with Ferrari. "I appreciate the fact that it is a real road circuit with plenty of fast corners, but speed alone is not very challenging.

"On top of that, it is a dangerous place when it rains. For Spa you need a well balanced car and braking is important for the tight sections like the hairpin and the chicane."

The Ulsterman has scored four points so far this year, but has not finished in the top six since the Monaco Grand Prix in May.
