I can be champion, says Massa
Brazilian Felipe Massa reckons he can become a world champion in the future following his promising 2006 season at the Ferrari team
Massa, winner of his home season-ending Grand Prix at Interlagos, scored two victories during the season on his way to third place in the drivers' standings in his first year as a Ferrari racing driver.
The Brazilian will be joined by Finn Kimi Raikkonen next season following the retirement of Michael Schumacher, and the Italian squad have been tipped as the favourites for 2007 thanks to their long partnership with Bridgestone, the sole tyre supplier next year.
Following his 2006 season, Massa is optimistic he can go on to challenge for the title.
"I came to Ferrari knowing I had a lot to learn, and in my first year I managed to win two races and also stood six times on the podium," the Brazilian was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Since I was able to conquer first place in the Brazilian GP, I certainly cannot rule out to be capable of winning the world title in the future.
"I want to work hard in order to realize this dream."
