Honda talk up Monaco chances

Nick Fry believes the characteristics of the Monte Carlo circuit could help the Honda team shine at the Monaco Grand Prix next week

"I think we can look forward to a good race," said Fry, whose team have endured a disappointing season so far. "It is a place that both drivers like a lot, Jenson obviously it is home and that is always promising.

"He has done well there in the past and that is a circuit that suits him."

Honda drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello finished a distant sixth and seventh at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, the Brazilian being lapped by race winner Fernando Alonso.

Fry said Honda's lack of straight-line speed hindered them on the long straight of the Circuit de Catalunya, so he believes the team should look better on the tight streets of Monte Carlo.

"You probably noticed that our top speed was fairly miserable (in Barcelona) and obviously that is not such a big problem in Monte Carlo so bring it on we are looking forward to it," he added.

With Button having shown good qualifying form, Fry is optimistic the Briton will be fighting for pole position.

"I think that clearly we are capable of qualifying well," Fry said.

"I think Monaco qualifying is going to be the most exciting qualifying of the year and it is going to be a matter of who avoids the incidents and who manages to not get baulked, so if we have a clear run in qualifying then I am sure Jenson can be up there."
