HHF aims to keep Prost at sharp end

Heinz-Harald Frentzen says he doesn't expect to finish on the podium for the Belgian Grand Prix, but he will do his utmost to hold on to fourth place

The German put in a startling performance during Saturday's qualifying session at the Spa circuit, to secure one of Prost's best ever qualifying performances. Frentzen stole fourth place on the grid in the dying minutes of the qualifying session to bump Rubens Barrichello, David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen down the pegging order. He now starts the race behind pole-sitter Juan Pablo Montoya, Ralf and Michael Schumacher.

"Hopefully, I will have an exciting race, but I don't think I can keep up with the cars in front of me," said Frentzen, who starts just his second race for the French team after being sacked by Jordan last month. "I plan to hold the other cars up for as long as I can, because I want to stay in fourth place. I am absolutely delighted with the result."

Frentzen attributed his performance to a second-to-none team effort and says he hopes Prost will more regularly visit the front end of the grid rather than the back.

"The whole team worked perfectly today," he continued. "Because we made the right decision to use dry tyres, we managed to get a good lap together. When I decided to join the team I was looking into the data and I believed in the potential of the car so it is my aim to help the team as much as I can.

"I don't know if we will mange to be regular in the top 10 for the rest of this year, but we are trying. Hopefully the car will keep on improving and I will do my best to see what we can do on this year's car."
