Heidfeld to Test for Jordan Next Week

Former Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld will test for Jordan at Jerez, Spain, next week as he looks to secure a future in Formula One.

Former Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld will test for Jordan at Jerez, Spain, next week as he looks to secure a future in Formula One.

German Heidfeld lost his drive at the end of the season to Jordan driver Giancarlo Fisichella and he will attempt to land the Italian's seat in his previous team by making an impression in testing.

He will be joined by Czech driver Jarek Janis in the December 3-5 test as team boss Eddie Jordan evaluated options open to him for 2004.

"Nick is a prime candidate for a revitalised Jordan next year and we are anxious for him to start getting to know the team at this stage," said Jordan.

Heidfeld's management team said the Jerez test is the only activity planned with Jordan and clarified that he has not signed a deal with the Silverstone-based team yet.

A spokeswoman for the 26-year-old said: "At the moment it is only for one test and there will be other drivers as well. Unfortunately nothing has changed in regards to Nick's future."
