Head Sends Warning to Schumacher

BMW-Williams technical director Patrick Head has warned World Champion Michael Schumacher that he will not find it so easy to win a record-equalling fifth title next year.

BMW-Williams technical director Patrick Head has warned World Champion Michael Schumacher that he will not find it so easy to win a record-equalling fifth title next year.

Head saw his team's two drivers Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya progress throughout the season and believes they will make life much harder for Ferrari driver Schumacher next season.

"It is great for a World Champion to finish the season like Michael did," Head said, "but one has given good warning that we are not going to make it easy for him next year."

Despite Ralf Schumacher and Montoya winning four races between them, Head is looking for further improvement next year and hopes it will help the team close the gap on Ferrari and mount a serious Championship challenge.

"Could do better are the words for this season," he added. "Obviously we have made good progress since 2000 and won four races but really at the moment you would have to say that only Ferrari are in the Premier Division and only McLaren and Williams are in Division One.

"It is quite a big gap between Premiership and Division One, and McLaren and ourselves have got to make the leap for next year."
